OUTLOOK
No where to go but up, but the climb will be difficult. There is only one senior on the team. Things are so lean that Gorrell moved Bunn up to the varsity, even though he’s only a freshman. There are three sophomores on the roster. Expect a lot of mistakes early. Gorrell, one of the youngest coaches in the county, has only one year of experience as a head coach. Still, he was an assistant in a successful Tustin program before coming to Cypress. The team will need to find a go-to guy in clutch situations. Mitchell may fill that role. He played a lot as a reserve last season. On the other hand, Gorrell thinks the lack of a returning standout player makes for better team play. The lack of size is a problem. Boulton is 6-4, but weighs only 175 pounds. Boberg is also lean at 6-3, 175. Both will get pushed around by the beefier centers at Esperanza and Los Alamitos. No one else on the roster is taller than 6-1. Harris is a nice find. He is a transfer from Long Beach Jordan, where he played for the freshman team last season. This team’s better days are at least a year away.
