BOYS’ SOCCER ROUNDUP : Corona del Mar Scores Early and Late to Defeat Saddleback

Corona del Mar, the top-ranked team in Orange County, got a goal in the first minute and another in the last to beat third-ranked Saddleback, 2-0, in a Sea View League boys’ soccer game Tuesday at Saddleback.

Eric Olsen and Garth Turner scored the goals for Corona del Mar (17-2-3, 10-0-1 in league). Justin McKibben had 10 saves for Corona del Mar. Saddleback is 15-3-4, 7-1-3.

In other Sea View League games:

Santa Margarita 5, Newport Harbor 2--Mike Allred, Mike Doria, Seth George, Chon Kantikvit and John Bamford each scored for fourth-ranked Santa Margarita (12-3-4, 6-3-2).

Jerome Ellis and Dominic Frantantaro each scored for Newport Harbor (4-12-3, 2-8-1).

Tustin 4, University 0--Zack Matthews scored two goals for visiting Tustin (10-7-2, 5-4-2).

In the Olympic League:

Whittier Christian 2, Capistrano Valley Christian 1--Kyle Hedwall scored with 20 minutes left to win it for host Whittier (8-6-4, 3-3). Jerry Blodget also scored for Whittier Christian. Matthew Davenport scored for Capistrano Valley Christian (2-9-3, 3-3).
