Ben Haley Jr. has been named football coach at Santiago High, whose team was 0-10 last season.

It will be the first head coaching job for Haley, 37, who was defensive coordinator at Hanford High in 1993. He also has been an assistant coach at Santa Ana Valley, Orange, Mission Viejo and Long Beach College.

Haley’s father was football coach at Saddleback from 1969 to 1973.

“I’m very familiar with turning a program around,” said Haley, who will teach special education.
