THOUSAND OAKS — Westlake High’s disciplined half-court approach was no match for Washington’s up-tempo attack and the Warriors fell, 78-56, Friday night in the championship game of the Thousand Oaks tournament.
Guard Patrick Blake scored a game-high 29 points for the Generals (5-1), including 23 in the second half.
Washington employed a full-court press and a quick transition game to take a 12-3 lead. Westlake (2-1) regrouped and took a 38-35 halftime lead, but was outscored, 19-6, in the third quarter.
Matt Smiley and Billy Miller each scored 12 for Westlake.
Oak Park 62, Thousand Oaks 59--Oak Park took fifth place after blowing nearly all of a 19-point lead, but lost guard Brandon Creason for at least a month when he collided with a teammate and broke his arm. Shawn Williams led the Eagles (2-4) with 21 points.
