City Section football teams continue to struggle against opponents outside their section. In 15 intersectional games over the weekend, only one city team--Narbonne--won, beating Long Beach Wilson, 16-6. City teams were outscored, 412-135. . . . For the second year in a row, the Eagle Rock football team is off to a 3-0 start. The Eagles open Northern Conference play against defending champion Franklin tonight at Poly High. . . . Fremont defensive coordinator Dave Loera said he frequently finds himself watching the team’s offense at practice. His son, Robert, is the quarterback for the 3-0 Pathfinders. He passed for 328 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 76 yards in Fremont’s 31-13 victory over Jefferson on Friday. . . . The Huntington Park girls’ cross-country team, which finished third at the section finals last year, expects to contend again this season. Led by senior Gaby Gonzalez, who was eighth in 19 minutes 40 seconds, the Spartans finished third at the St. John Bosco Invitational on Saturday at La Mirada Park.
