Smith, Saddleback Upset Fullerton in Softball

Jodi Smith pitched a three-hitter as visiting Saddleback upset Fullerton, 1-0, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Monday.
Saddleback (18-6, 7-3) scored in the first inning on a passed ball. The loss dropped Fullerton (20-6, 8-2) into a first-place tie with Cypress.
Saddleback is one game back.
In other Orange Empire Conference softball games:
Cypress 6, Irvine Valley 1--Christa Saindon had a hit, a run batted in, two runs scored and three walks for visiting Cypress (22-9, 8-2).
Golden West 7, Riverside 5--Becky Thompson had two hits and two runs scored, Kris Carlson had two hits and scored one and Patty Villalpando had two hits, an RBI and one run scored for Golden West (9-8, 5-5).
In Orange Empire Conference golf:
Saddleback 368, Cuyamaca 378, Golden West 423--Saddleback’s Hans Jones shot a one-under 71 and teammates Michael McGinley and Lee Kinney each shot 73 at Singing Hills golf course in El Cajon.
Palomar 412, Rancho Santiago 417, Riverside 433--Roper Morris led Rancho Santiago (3-5), shooting a seven-over 79 at Lake San Marcos golf course. Daisuke Tsuchiyama led all golfers with a 76, for Palomar (5-3).
