Notre Dame 65, St. Francis 54--Cody Pearson scored 25 points, including nine of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter, to help break open a 45-45 tie in a Mission League opener at St. Francis.

Michael Luderer had 18 points for Notre Dame (13-1).

Michael Jenkins had 25 points for St. Francis (3-5).

Chaminade 76, Alemany 43--Freshman Marcel Jones had 17 points and the Eagles made 32 of 50 shots in a Mission League victory at Chaminade.

Scott Borchart scored 16 points, Ryan Arceo had 15 and Jon Todd added 10 for Chaminade (9-4, 1-0).

Simi Valley 63, Moorpark 62--Ryan Bradshaw hit a three-point basket with 47 seconds to play to lift the Pioneers in a Marmonte League opener at Moorpark.

Simi Valley (12-2) extended its Marmonte League winning streak to 26 games.

Ron Russ of Moorpark hit a three-pointer with 1:16 to play to tie the score, 60-60.

Blake Sharpe of Simi Valley stole the ball and hit two free throws with 1:06 to play, giving the Musketeers (9-5) a 62-60 lead.

Dustin Villepigue and Jered Weaver each scored 16 points for Simi Valley, ranked No. 3 in The Times’ regional poll. Bradshaw scored 11 points.

Russ scored 18 points for Moorpark.

Newbury Park 64, Royal 49--Adam Carlson had 27 points and 15 rebounds, and Chris Randall had 11 points, 11 rebounds and five blocked shots for the Panthers (10-3) in a Marmonte League victory at Newbury Park.

Oxnard 71, Santa Paula 44--Nicholas Curtis had 32 points and 14 rebounds for the Yellowjackets (12-3) in a victory at Santa Paula.

Ryan Frutos had 15 points for Santa Paula.

San Fernando 88, Bravo 80--Victor Chacon had 29 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists for the Tigers in a victory at San Fernando.

Ramon Perry had 34 points and 10 rebounds for San Fernando (4-9).

Grant 80, Birmingham 61--Gino Riney had 20 points, 12 rebounds and four steals for the Lancers (9-5) in a nonleague victory at Grant.

Oak Park 68, Camarillo 65--Grant Smith hit five of seven three-pointers in the second half to spark the Eagles’ rally from a 15-point halftime deficit in a nonleague victory at Oak Park.

Smith scored 23 points for Oak Park and Jason Adams had 27 for the Eagles (9-6).

Jared Jungwirth scored 20 points for Camarillo (9-7).

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL

Grant 99, Birmingham 25--Alexis Weatherspoon tied a school record with 44 points and broke a school record with 15 assists as the Lancers won a nonleague game at Grant.

Weatherspoon had 10 assists and 10 rebounds to help the Lancers (7-7) build a 49-10 halftime lead.

Krystal Clay had 29 points, 10 assists and 10 rebounds, and Michelle Hairston added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Grant.

Oaks Christian 61, Malibu 18--Cherhara Shields scored 18 points for the Lions in a nonleague game at Oaks Christian.

Erin McKinney added 15 points for Oaks Christian (9-6), which outscored the Sharks, 23-2, in the second quarter.

Moorpark 55, Simi Valley 43--Kirsten Nadas scored 16 points and Natalia Worth had 14 points for the Raiders (10-2) in a Marmonte League victory at Moorpark.

Sarah Ripley scored 13 points for Simi Valley (11-3), ranked No. 10 in the region.

Newbury Park 62, Royal 50--Cassandra Harris scored 13 points and Brynn Cameron added 12 for the Panthers (9-7) in a Marmonte League game at Royal.

Canyon 69, Glendale 47--Katie Holdaway had 25 points and 11 rebounds, and Ashley Palmer added 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Cowboys (11-5) in a nonleague victory at Canyon.

Valencia 45, Hoover 37--Marissa Meadows scored 15 points for the Vikings in a nonleague victory at Valencia.

Holly Feneht added 12 points for Valencia (13-3), which outscored Hoover, 10-0, in the first quarter.
