BIG WINNERS

* T.J. Fakehinde scored five touchdowns -- three on receptions, one on a punt return and one on a kickoff return -- as Fullerton Eastside Christian defeated Torrance South Bay Lutheran, 38-36.

* Brandon Barnes and Kevin Stout each had two interceptions for Anaheim Katella during the Knights’ 38-28 victory over La Palma Kennedy.

* Camarillo intercepted four passes and recovered a fumble during the Scorpions’ 37-0 victory over Oxnard Pacifica.

UPSETS

* Then-No. 14 Santa Ana Mater Dei defeated then-No. 2 Los Angeles Loyola, 28-10. Mater Dei tailback Rafael Rice rushed for 151 yards and a touchdown in 22 carries against his former team, dragging five defenders nearly 10 yards on one play.

* Bellflower St. John Bosco defeated then-No. 7 Rancho Santa Margarita, 28-23. St. John Bosco quarterback Joseph Souza rushed for three touchdowns and Santa Margarita came away with only three points on two drives inside the Braves’ 10-yard line.

* Paso Robles defeated then-No. 11 Arroyo Grande, 12-10. Vince Freitas accounted for all of Paso Robles’ points by scoring a touchdown on a six-yard run and kicking two field goals, all in the second half. Arroyo Grande led, 10-0, at halftime.

* Claremont defeated then-No. 24 Alta Loma, 31-0. Claremont quarterback Matt McDonald thew for 130 yards and a touchdown and running back Jamal Floyd gained 115 yards and scored a touchdown.

* Sepulveda Monroe defeated San Fernando, 25-24, in a Valley Mission League opener for its first victory of the season. The Vikings (1-4-1) derailed the usual league-title showdown between San Fernando and Sylmar, which play Friday. The Tigers self-destructed with four first-half turnovers that resulted in 15 Monroe points, missed two point-after kicks and failed on two two-point conversion attempts.

FANTASTIC FINISHES

* Manual Torres kicked a 17-yard field goal in overtime to lift Garfield over Bell, 9-6, in an Eastern League game. Torres also kicked field goals of 22 and 37 yards.

* Mike Liti ran for a nine-yard touchdown with 46 seconds remaining to give Santa Ana Foothill a 39-33 comeback victory over Laguna Hills in a Sea View League game. Liti finished with 277 yards and four touchdowns in 29 carries.

* Murrieta Calvary Chapel quarterback Kyle Curry connected with Jimmy Johnson on a touchdown pass with 29 seconds left as the Warriors rallied to defeat Anza Hamilton, 15-14, in a Big Sky League game.
