It was a good day to be a Gonzalez.

Luis Gonzalez and Edgar Gonzalez played key roles for the Arizona Diamondbacks in a 10-4 victory over the San Diego Padres on Sunday. Luis homered and had four runs batted in for the second straight game, and Edgar won his major league debut.

“I’m getting in a good groove,” said Luis Gonzalez, who hit a two-run shot -- his 12th. “I’m starting to put together some good at-bats and the results are showing.”

Edgar Gonzalez, who is not related to his Arizona teammate, is the youngest player in the majors at 20 years old. He was far from spectacular in his first big league start, but he showed enough to get a positive report from Manager Bob Brenly.

“I was impressed with Edgar,” Brenly said. “His stuff is really good. He’s sneaky quick with his fastball.... he made some good pitches when he had to. It wasn’t easy, but he did what he had to do.”

It was also the Diamondback debut for third baseman Shea Hillenbrand, acquired Thursday in a trade with the Boston Red Sox for pitcher Byung-Hyun Kim. Hillenbrand went 0 for 3 with two walks.

“It felt all right,” Hillenbrand said. “I felt a little tired, but the team made it easy to come in and play. I wasn’t nervous, I just wasn’t in my comfort zone.”

Edgar Gonzalez gave up three runs and 10 hits. He was lifted after walking pinch-hitter Keith Lockhart with two out in the sixth.

Gonzalez pitched out of a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the fourth by striking out Lou Merloni and retiring Miguel Ojeda on a grounder. The Padres, who rallied for an 8-7 victory Saturday night, failed to win consecutive games for the first time since winning three in a row April 23-25. San Diego has dropped 28 of 34.

Center fielder David Dellucci suffered a concussion in a collision with shortstop Alex Cintron on Ojeda’s shallow fly leading off the third inning. Dellucci remained motionless for more than four minutes before finally being helped to his feet.

Luis Gonzalez homered in the ninth against Jaret Wright and had two run-scoring singles.

Cintron and Mark Grace each drove in two runs. Grace put the Diamondbacks ahead, 2-1, with a two-run single in the fourth inning against Jake Peavy (4-5).

Before the game, Arizona put right-handers Matt Mantei (right shoulder sprain) and Mike Koplove (right shoulder tendinitis) on the 15-day disabled list.
