Friday’s top high school football games:

La Puente Bishop Amat vs. Santa Ana Mater Dei at Santa Ana Stadium, 7:30 p.m. (Prime Ticket): There could be as many as four quarterbacks playing in a game matching representatives from the two strongest leagues in the Southland — the Mission and Trinity. The advantage belongs with Bishop Amat, whose two quarterbacks, Ryder Ruiz and Damian Garcia, combined for nearly 4,000 yards passing last season. Mater Dei has two quarterbacks who haven’t started at the varsity level, Matt McDonald and freshman JT Daniels. It’s going to come down to turnovers and execution in an opener between top-10 teams with high expectations.

The pick: Bishop Amat.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame at Westlake Village Oaks Christian, 7 p.m.: After 26 years as head coach at Westlake, Jim Benkert takes over at Oaks Christian. Sophomore quarterback Matt Corral has lots of weapons to call upon, including USC-bound receiver Michael Pittman. Notre Dame returns quarterback Cole Klayman and running back Leo Lambert III.

The pick: Oaks Christian.
