Baseball: Get ready for lots of great pitching at Dodger Stadium

Friday’s Division 1, 2 and 3 championship games at Dodger Stadium in the Southern Section will show off star pitchers galore, so get ready for some intense finals.

In Division 1 at 8 p.m., Santa Margarita gets to turn to UCLA-bound Griffin Canning, the No. 1 pitcher from the Trinity League. Foothill has Hudson Hughes, who’s 9-0 and has been winning big game after big game.

In Division 2 at 5, Aliso Niguel has Kyle Molnar, perhaps the No. 1 junior pitcher in the Southland (above is video from Molnar’s sophomore year). He’s committed to UCLA. Yes, Bruins Coach John Savage will be at Dodger Stadium on Friday night. Temecula Valley is expected to go with Brandon Koch, who signed with Cal Baptist.

In Division 3 at 2 p.m., Palm Desert has one of the best juniors in Andrew Bash. He threw a no-hitter in one playoff game, hit two home runs in another and hit another home run in the semifinals. Bishop Amat has UC Santa Barbara signee Alex Garcia, plus Cal State Fullerton-bound closer Scott Hurst.
