Boys’ basketball: St. John Bosco defeats Inglewood in two overtimes

Terrell Gomez of Inglewood sure made life tough for St. John Bosco on Tuesday night. Twice Gomez made three-pointers at end of regulation and again at the end of the first overtime to tie the game. But the Braves finally prevailed in two overtimes, 76-73.

Gomez finished with 25 points. Vance Jackson led St. John Bosco with 29 points and Rodney Henderson added 28 points.

Mater Dei defeated Culver City, 89-26. MJ Cage had 20 points.

In the Beverly Hills tournament, El Camino Real defeated Brentwood, 53-42. Josiah Woods had 13 points.Loyola defeated Burbank Burroughs, 79-54. Max Hazzard had 20 points and 10 assists. Henry Welsh had 19 points and Stone Gettings added 16 points and 12 rebounds. In a consolation game, Palisades defeated Torrance, 66-42. Joe Robinson scored 16 points. Leuziger defeated Birmingham, 51-42.

Compton defeated East Bakersfield, 71-38.

The quarterfinal schedule for Wednesday: Santa Monica vs. Long Beach Poly, 3:30 p.m.; El Camino Real vs. Beverly Hills, 5 p.m.; Compton vs. Loyola, 6:30 p.m.; Westchester vs. Cantwell-Sacred Heart, 8 p.m.

In the Artesia tournament, Marquell Gray of Hawthorne scored 43 points in a 76-68 win over Corona.

In the Ventura County Classic, Calabasas defeated Valencia, 53-49. Conner Longmire scored 16 oints and Justin Bessard added 15. The Coyotes (5-1) will face neighborhood rival Viewpoint on Wednesday at Oak Park. Westlake defeated Camarillo, 78-65. Hunter Gettings scored 17 points. Thousand Oaks defeated Sylmar, 87-46. Matt Hauser had 19 points and Derek Ludlow 15.

Sherman Oaks Notre Dame defeated Chatsworth, 63-58.

Rancho Cucamonga defeated Paloma Valley, 70-33. Freshman Matthew Bradley had 19 points and Tamer Jabsheh added 12 points and six assists.

Bolden Brace scored 29 points and had 15 rebounds in Santa Barbara’s 81-58 win over Arroyo Grande.
