Boys’ basketball: The Green Hole will welcome Westlake on Friday

Share

Get ready for a warm welcome from the Green Hole, otherwise known as Thousand Oaks’ student section, on Friday night when Westlake travels to Thousand Oaks for a Marmonte League showdown.

The Green Hole can be very loud, very relentless and very loyal, so Thousand Oaks (17-2, 2-0) deserves the favorite role over the Warriors (15-3, 2-0) going into the game for first place in the Marmonte League.

But fans can’t play. They only can cheer, so Westlake figures to give the Matt Hauser-led Lancers plenty of trouble.

It will be an opportunity for Westlake’s Isaiah Brooks to shine. He needs to distribute the ball well and hit some shots. Michael Hayon will need to rebound and gets some second-chance opportunities.

But someone also will have to contain Hauser, the Santa Clara-bound guard who has been putting up big numbers offensively all season for the Lancers.

At the game’s conclusion, somebody figures to be charging onto the court to celebrate. If it’s the Green Hole, sit back and smile.
