Football: Bill Redell is turning over victories and defeats to Jim Benkert
Back in January, Oaks Christian announced that Jim Benkert would be joining the football program as associate head coach to Bill Redell after a 26-year tenure at Westlake.
But Redell said on Sunday that Benkert will get credit for victories and defeats as the official head coach.
Redell calls himself the director of football operations, with Benkert the head coach.
Is he OK with that?
“My age, I’m OK with anything,” he said.
The two seem to be working well this spring. Oaks Christian won the Pierce College seven on seven passing tournament on Saturday. Benkert has brought in several of his former assistants from Westlake and is implementing changes.
