Football: Don’t overlook San Pedro in City Section Division I

Share

All signs point toward San Pedro being 5-0 going into a Marine League showdown against Narbonne on Oct. 10.

The Pirates have won their first three games against Morro Bay, Locke and Culver City, not so great competition, but what should make San Pedro fans excited is the play of its young players.

Last week against Culver City, sophomore receiver Raymond Geha caught touchdown passes of 73 and 23 yards from junior quarterback Jacob Miller and had 148 yards in receiving yards.

“He can run,” Coach Mike Walsh said.

Another standout for the Pirates is junior free safety Antonio Frazier.

Senior running back Chris Alvidrez rushed for 180 yards.

“I think we’ll get better,” Walsh said.

The big question will be can San Pedro turn up its quality of play once league begins and the opponents get a lot stronger?
