Pending approval by the school board, Jon Mack will be the next head coach at Oxnard High.

“I’m excited and fired up,” Mack said Monday. “I can’t wait to get going.”

Mack, the former head coach at St. Bonaventure and Encino Crespi and Ventura College, is expected to receive approval on Wednesday to take over the Oxnard program.

He hasn’t coached high school football in the last two seasons. He worked as an administrator at Santa Clara High.

He’s highly regarded as a motivator and for his organizational skills. It will be his first exposure to high school football for a public school.
