Football: Junior Matthew McDonald to start at quarterback for Mater Dei
- Share via
Mater Dei Coach Bruce Rollinson has named junior Matthew McDonald to start at quarterback in the Monarchs’ season opener on Friday against Bishop Amat.
Freshman JT Daniels is also expected to play at some point during the game, Rollinson said Monday.
Rollinson said McDonald “has had a good camp.”
“They’re both good quarterbacks,” he said. “We’re perfectly confident in both of them.”
Both have no varsity experience, which means there will be lots of pressure on Mater Dei’s defense to keep the Monarchs in the game against a very talented Bishop Amat offense, led by USC-bound Tyler Vaughns and Trevon Sidney.
