In the early going on Saturday night, Servite held a 14-10 lead over Concord De La Salle on the strength of a 17-yard touchdown run by Travis Waller and a 47-yard touchdown pass from Waller to Terrell Bynum.
But De La Salle (5-0) got its veer offense in high gear and came away with a 47-24 victory over Servite (3-2).
The Spartans held a 20-14 halftime lead. Servite got a field goal on its first possession of the third quarter. Then De La Salle scored 27 consecutive points to open a 47-17 lead. Andrew Hernandez and Antoine Custer each had three touchdowns.
De La Salle is the favorite to represent Northern California in the CIF state championship Open Division bowl game in December at StubHub Center in Carson.
Servite will be idle this week while preparing for its Trinity League opener against Orange Lutheran on Oct. 10.
