Football: Southern Section, Calabasas launch review of transfers

Share

Southern Section Commissioner Rob Wigod confirmed on Monday that he met last week with administrators from Calabasas High School and is engaged in an “ongoing conversation” regarding the more than two dozen transfer students who have shown up and joined the football program since the winter of 2013.

A review of Southern Section eligibility lists indicate since the hiring of Casey Clausen as football coach in December 2013, more than 25 students have transferred to Calabasas.

The large number of transfers triggered a response by Wigod, who, in 2012-13 after new transfer rules went into effect, committed to intervening when schools received multiple transfers. Calabasas is being asked to review the transfers to make sure they follow Southern Section and CIF guidelines.

A majority of the Calabasas transfers are listed as “valid change of residence.”

Calabasas has yet to submit transfer paperwork for the 2015-16 school year. The latest transfer student during the summer was Darnay Holmes, a junior who left Newbury Park.
