Football: Tight ends show their stuff

Share

Yes, the tight end position isn’t as important as it used to be at the high school level with so many teams switching to a spread offense.

But tight ends aren’t about to disappear and two had huge games this past weekend.

John Carroll of La Canada St. Francis caught seven passes for 157 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Moorpark.

Moorpark Coach Tim Lins, a former tight end who has coached lots of good ones, was impressed with Carroll, who also plays basketball for the Golden Knights.

Another tight end causing trouble was Alize Jones of Las Vegas Bishop Gorman. He couldn’t be stopped in the Gaels’ comeback win over Corona Centennial.
