Girls’ soccer: Edison’s MacKenzie Cerda is Gatorade state player of the year

UCLA-bound MacKenzie Cerda of Huntington Beach Edison has been named the Gatorade state player of the year in girls’ soccer.
She’s a 5-foot-7 forwrd who scored 13 goals and had six assists. She was the Southern Section Division 1 player of the year and had 62 goals in her career.
Cerda’s selection means that UCLA will be getting the boys’ and girls’ Gatorade players of the year. Earlier, Abu Danladi of Dunn was named the boys’ state and national player of the year.
