Swimming: Palisades wins City Section titles for boys and girls

Complete domination.
That’s the best way to describe the performance of the Palisades swim team on Friday at the City Section championships at East Los Angeles College.
The boys won with 600 points. San Pedro finished second at 257. The girls won with 591 points. Cleveland finished second with 277 points.
Coach Maggie Nance celebrated the boys winning a third consecutive title and the girls their sixth in a row. And what’s scary is how young the Dolphins are.
Sophomore Kian Brouwer won the 200 freestyle in 1:41.10 and the 100 butterfly in 50.35. Freshman Roy Yoo won the 50 freestyle in 21.70. Junior Michael Cutidioc set a meet record with a time of 55.20 in the 100 backstroke. Freshman Gillian Caverly won the girls’ 200 freestyle in 1:54.02 and the 500 freestyle in 5:00.57.
San Pedro’s Audrey Steen, another freshman, set a meet record in the 100 backstroke in 54.86 and won two events.
