Football: Centennial looks to rebound against Alemany

Share

After a tough loss to Long Beach Poly last week, Corona Centennial will try to get back on the winning track tonight, but it will be a difficult task against an Alemany squad that is full of confidence after its convincing victory over reigning City Section champion Narbonne.

Centennial (2-1) is ranked #7 in the Southland by The Times and is still #1 in the Southern Section’s Inland Division, led by quarterback Robert Webber and running back Tre Watson, who rushed for almost 500 yards and seven touchdowns two weeks ago against St. Bonaventure. The Huskies played in the CIF Open Division state bowl last December.

Alemany (3-0), ranked #8 by The Times and #4 in the Pac-5 Division, is paced by quarterback Alif Grayes and running back Okalani Langi, a junior transfer from Crespi who scored four touchdowns against Narbonne. The Warriors went 9-3 last fall behind quarterback Devon Dunn (now at Baylor) and lost to Santa Ana Mater Dei in the Pac-5 quarterfinals.
