Huntington Beach Club Team Advances

Former Fountain Valley High School and Cal State Long Beach volleyball player Rich Balbuena had 32 kills Wednesday night to lead SBE Flash Raymond Construction, a club team from Huntington Beach, to two victories in the U.S. Volleyball Assn. national championships at Nassau Community College in Long Island, N.Y.

Former San Diego State All-American Mike Dodd added 30 kills, as SBE Flash defeated Southern Petroleum, from Oklahoma, 15-2, 15-6, and the Texas Stars, 15-2, 15-2. The Huntington Beach club continues second-round play today.
