Stark Passes Capo Valley to 37-12 Win

Scott Stark threw for 277 yards and three touchdowns to lead Capistrano Valley High School past Canyon, 37-12, in Capistrano Valley Stadium.

Stark, who threw four touchdown passes in the Cougars’ season-opening win against Foothill, hit Nathan Call for all three of his scoring passes against Canyon. Call caught 7 passes for 115 yards. The senior wide receiver also scored on a 14-yard reverse in the second quarter.

Canyon took an early 3-0 lead on Tim Snitko’s 36-yard field goal in the first quarter. The Cougars (2-0) then blew the game open with 21 second-quarter points.

Todd French threw 38 yards to Chuck Zacour for Canyon’s lone touchdown.

French completed 16 of 43 passes for 222 yards. He also threw one interception.

The loss dropped Canyon’s record to 1-1.
