Van Nuys High will probably forfeit two East Valley League basketball victories because one of its players did not attend school on the days the games were played, a Van Nuys administrator said Thursday.

Under City Section rules, a player must attend at least four classes the day of a game, according to Lee Joseph, City athletic administrator.

Roy Kawamoto, Van Nuys administrative dean, confirmed Thursday that Terry Silberman did not attend school on Jan. 31, when the Wolves beat Sylmar, and on Feb. 7, when the Wolves beat Grant. Silberman scored 14 points in each of the games. The Van Nuys center averages 15 points a game.

Joseph said that the City athletic office had not yet been informed of a violation.

“If we receive notification of violations by the end of the league season, the team will forfeit the games,” Joseph said.
