Community College Softball : Moore’s 2-Hitter Leads Cypress

Colleen Moore pitched a two-hitter as Cypress College defeated Rancho Santiago, 1-0, in an Orange Empire Conference softball game Wednesday at Rancho Santiago.

Moore (4-2) struck out four.

Cypress (7-6 overall, 1-0 in conference) scored an unearned run in the third inning. Valerie Sucatre led off with an infield single and was advanced to third by back-to-back sacrifice bunts. Sucatre scored on an error by first baseman Judy Padialla.

In another conference game:

Saddleback 5, Citrus 1--Penny Taylor struck out 12 and allowed only 3 hits for Saddleback (10-2, 1-0). Taylor (9-1) allowed only one earned run.

Riverside 2, Orange Coast 1--Sondra Metcalf’s bloop single scored Cindy Taylor in the sixth inning to cap a two-run rally for Riverside at Orange Coast.

In the South Coast Conference:

Golden West 2, Pasadena 0--Jessica Duran (4-2) pitched a four-hit shutout to lead Golden West (5-6, 1-0) at Pasadena.

Fullerton 4, Cerritos 0--Kristin Jacobs didn’t give up a hit in five innings for Fullerton (14-2, 1-0) at Cerritos.
