Hoover 12, Lincoln 1-- Mike McKnight hit a two-run home run in the first of two six-run innings as the visitors, and pitcher Tim Tucciarone coasted. Hoover is 6-4 and 2-0 in league.

Morse 7, Serra 3--Javier Brown hit a bases-loaded single through the left fielder’s legs to score three runners in the top of the seventh as Morse scored four runs. Mike Smith had a two-run double in the first for Morse (5-4, 2-0). Jason Wallace was 2 for 3 for Serra (4-5, 0-2).

Madison 18, Patrick Henry 4--Madison (8-1, 2-0) scored 10 runs in the second, in which Patrick Henry used four of the six pitchers it needed for the game. Josh Riley was 2 for 4 with an RBI for Patrick Henry (4-4, 0-2).

Mira Mesa 9, Point Loma 8--Two Point Loma players were thrown out at the plate as Mira Mesa hung on for the victory. Warren Domingo of Mira Mesa and Point Loma’s Jamie Anglin each went 3 for 4 with 4 RBIs.

CITY WESTERN

Clairemont 12, Kearny 11--Brian Kilpatrick’s first hit of the season drove in the winning run in the sixth for Clairemont (3-7, 1-1). The Chieftains scored eight runs in the sixth to rally past Kearny (6-4-1, 1-1). Steve Faragoso went 3 for 3 with 3 RBIs for Kearny, and Ray McDavid was 2 for 2 for Clairemont.

La Jolla 9, University City 0--Senior left-hander Brent Woodall struck out nine and surrendered just three hits to shut out University City (5-4, 0-2). Robert Grasso went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs for La Jolla (7-2, 2-0).

NONLEAGUE

Torrey Pines 17, Hood River (Ore.) 4--John Lynch hit a third-inning grand slam and drove in two more runs with a double for Torrey Pines (9-0). Bob Kennedy knocked in 3 runs on 4 hits and scored 4 times for the Falcons.

Poway 9, Mar Vista 1--Steve Wren and Bill Wraith each hit two-run doubles, and Bill Bertsch hit a two-run homer for the visitors (3-4), who benefited from eight errors. Sophomore Dan Miller (1-1) allowed no walks and one unearned run.

San Dieguito 4, Julian 2--Mike Savino’s two-run homer in the fourth broke a 2-2 tie and helped Charlie Chittim win his first game. Don Sandford also hit a homer for host San Dieguito (2-6).

Castle Park 8, Sweetwater 3--Shortstop Juan Beltran hit a bases-loaded triple to key a six-run sixth inning for visiting Castle Park. Sergio Hicks picked up the victory and Oscar Baltazar was the loser.

San Marcos 10, Vista 10--San Marcos scored four runs in the top of the seventh, but the game was called on account of darkness and the runs were discounted. Travis Beasley was 3 for 4 with 5 RBIs for San Marcos (4-1-2).

Escondido 1, Orange Glen 0--Chris Zarate scored on a passed ball in the fifth as host Escondido edged its city rival. Martin Melendrez and Scott Coleman held Escondido to two hits. David Silva (2-0) held Orange Glen (5-1) to three hits.
