High School Spring Sports : Westlake Outlasts Taft at Windy Wood Ranch

Share

Take the two best high school golf teams in Southern California and put them on one of the best courses in the area, and most would expect to see some good numbers posted.

Not Thursday. When Taft and Westlake met at Wood Ranch Country Club in Simi Valley, Westlake won, 428-471, but nobody felt very good about it. The real winner was the wind, the rough and the 7,000-yard course. Players just felt like casualties.

“Just another day at the office,” said Westlake’s No. 1 man, senior Chris Zambri, who shot 91, his highest round since he was a freshman. “I guess it’s back to reality--I’m not as good as I thought I was.”
