Schurr 34, Burroughs 10--Quarterback Jay Macias completed 14 of 21 for 247 yards and three touchdowns and Aaron Kovacs rushed 13 times for 102 yards and two touchdowns for Schurr (7-3-0, 4-1-0). Still, Burroughs (3-7, 2-3) managed to qualify for the playoffs, winning a coin flip that broke a three-way tie for third place.

With 55 seconds to play, Macias connected with David Hernandez on a 65-yard touchdown pass to complete the rout.

Football--Burroughs High’s status in the Southern Section Division III playoffs was incorrectly reported in Friday’s early edition. Burroughs earned a playoff berth by winning a coin flip that broke a three-way tie for third place in the Foothill League.

Burroughs’ Andre Banks ran 27 yards for a touchdown to tie the score, 7-7, on the last play of the first quarter. Banks led all rushers with 112 yards in 17 carries.

In the second quarter, Kovacs ran 10 yards for a touchdown and also ran for the ensuing two-point conversion to give Schurr a 15-10 lead.
