MOORPARK : Globetrotter Game Planned at College
A long-awaited basketball game may finally take place at Moorpark College during a visit by the Harlem Globetrotters this year.
The Globetrotters are scheduled to face off with their perennial rivals, the Washington Generals, at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Raider Pavilion at Moorpark College, 7075 Campus Road.
The game was postponed last summer after the Globetrotters were invited to appear on an ABC “Wide World of Sports” program filmed in Florida.
An eight-day training camp for new players will begin Aug. 31, said Gerry Olsen, Moorpark College information officer.
Practices are scheduled twice a day until Sept. 7, but times have not been set.
Proceeds of the exhibition game will go to the college’s athletic department, said Al Norquist, head men’s basketball coach.
Tickets, at $10 each, will go on sale today at the business office in the Campus Center.
