PREP ROUNDUP : Dana Hills Dumps Corona del Mar in Girls’ Tennis

Dana Hills, ranked sixth in the Southern Section 4-A, defeated No. 3 Corona del Mar, 14-4, Wednesday in a nonleague girls’ tennis match at Dana Hills.
Nicole Elliott and Anna Zaricki swept in singles for Dana Hills (5-1). Corona del Mar is 2-3.
In other nonleague girls’ tennis:
Capistrano Valley 10, Foothill 8--Lisa Shulga and Maria Nguyen swept their sets at No. 2 doubles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-1 to lead Capistrano Valley (6-1).
Rosary 9, Los Alamitos 9 (68-68 in games)--Joyce Cruz and Mandy Gomez swept in singles for Rosary (5-3-1) in a match that ended in a tie due to darkness. Los Alamitos is 8-0-1.
In nonleague girls’ volleyball:
Laguna Beach 3, Dana Hills 0--Shauna Shapiro had 41 assists and 11 digs for visiting Laguna Beach (8-0).
In Sunset League water polo:
Marina 9, Fountain Valley 6--Matt Braun scored four goals for Marina (7-5, 2-0) at Golden West College.
In Orange League boys’ cross-country:
Brea-Olinda 24, Savanna 31--Sophomore Carl Daucher finished first in 19 minutes 1 second for 3.1 miles at Carbon Canyon Regional Park.
In Orange League girls’ cross-country:
Brea-Olinda 19, Savanna 39--Kelly Daucher, Carl’s twin sister, won in 25:49 for Brea. Sophomore Miiko Saul, who finished 14th of 30 runners, was treated by paramedics for heat exhaustion, taken to St. Jude Hospital in Fullerton and released.
