PREP NOTES

Scholastic surfers: San Clemente High School’s surfing team, last year’s California Interscholastic Surfing Federation Division 4-A champion, is among three schools competing in the South Coast League competition, which starts Friday.

San Clemente, the defending league champion, is led by Sky Weaver, Gavin Beschen, Geoff Moysa and Colin McPhillips.

The Tritons will be challenged by Dana Hills and Capistrano Valley. Dylan Christensen leads Dana Hills, while Tim Daley, Mike Moss, Sean Rooney and Jeremy Thompson lead Capistrano Valley.

League dual meets start at 6 a.m., and sites will be determined by the coaches.

The schedule: Friday--Capistrano Valley at Dana Hills; Wednesday--San Clemente at Dana Hills; Oct. 14--Capistrano Valley at San Clemente; Oct. 17--Dana Hills at Capistrano Valley; Oct. 22--Dana Hills at San Clemente; Oct. 24--San Clemente at Capistrano Valley; Oct. 29--Capistrano Valley at Dana Hills; Nov. 1--San Clemente at Dana Hills.
