Garden Grove’s offense ran with precision Friday night as the undefeated Argonauts mowed down Santiago, 34-14, in a Garden Grove League game at Garden Grove High School.

The Argonauts (6-0, 3-0 in league) spoiled Santiago’s 30th anniversary homecoming by jumping to a 34-0 third-quarter lead behind junior running back Jim Sebreros’ 202 yards in 15 carries, including first-half touchdown runs of 84 and nine yards.

Garden Grove totaled 247 yards rushing and 71 yards passing, including a first-quarter, 32-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Brian Schneider to wide receiver Jason Baca. Sebreros’ two touchdown runs and a 12-yard scoring run by Derek Smith gave Garden Grove a 27-0 halftime lead.

A 15-play, 64-yard scoring drive that consumed 9 minutes 13 seconds to open the second half put the game out of reach for the Argonauts. Running back Brian Rall completed the drive by scoring from the one. Adrian Ioja kicked the last of his four extra points for a 34-0 lead.

Santiago (2-4, 2-1) drove 87 yards for its first score, a one-yard plunge by Jaime Estrada with 4:47 left in the game. After an interception return to the Garden Grove 11 by the Cavaliers’ Enele Scanlan, Brian Puskas scored the final touchdown by falling on Estrada’s fumble in the end zone.
