In the Garden Grove League:

Rancho Alamitos 42, La Quinta 6--Jeff Byrd and Leon Vickers scored three touchdowns apiece at Bolsa Grande High to lead the Vaqueros (6-0-1, 4-0) to their first victory over the Aztecs (2-5, 1-3) since 1982.

Vickers, who rushed for 133 yards in seven carries, scored first-quarter touchdowns on runs of 93 and 28 yards, the former tying the school record of Dana Riddle, and a fourth-quarter score on a 52-yard pass interception return.

Byrd (22 carries, 109 yards) scored on a 36-yard first-quarter run and a pair of one-yard runs in the second and third quarters.

Rancho Alamitos rolled up 380 yards, 296 rushing, despite 16 penalties for 141 yards.
