Westlake 34, Channel Islands 30--Westlake wide receiver Erik Holcomb caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from quarterback John Snyder with 1 minute 16 seconds to play, then added a two-point conversion run to give the Warriors a come-from-behind win against host Channel Islands (1-6, 0-4).
Westlake (3-4, 2-2) nearly lost on the ensuing kickoff when Aron Wisherd returned the ball down the left sideline 89 yards for an apparent touchdown. However, he was ruled to have stepped out of bounds at the Channel Islands 46-yard line. The Raiders moved the ball to the Westlake six but time ran out.
Wisherd returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
Holcomb, who played wide receiver, had 12 catches for 206 yards and two touchdowns. Snyder completed 21 of 35 passes for 309 yards.
Channel Islands running back David Cox had 25 carries for 187 yards, including touchdown runs of 62, six and seven yards. Receiver Dante Mitchell had six catches for 100 yards.
