HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL : Santa Fe Christian Piles Up 72-38 Win Over Francis Parker

Francis Parker complained that La Jolla Country Day ran the score up last week. Santa Fe Christian did it to the Lancers (3-4) this week, scoring 33 points in the fourth quarter to win, 72-38.

The Eagles (6-0) led only 24-12 at halftime but iced the victory with a one-yard plunge that also capped a 59-point fourth quarter.

Ryan Flanders (three touchdowns) opened the third quarter with a 72-yard run and a 21-yard interception return. Daryl Dalton scored on runs of 51 and 34 yards, and Keith Cardinle (four touchdowns) ripped off runs of 63 and 39 yards in the fourth. Parker, which lost to LJCD, 73-23, the previous week, was led by Scott Schneider, who passed for 403 yards.

Other Coastal League games:

LJCD 51, Julian 6--Rashaan Salaam rushed only six times but had 163 yards and 75- and 21-yard scoring runs. He also had a 60-yard punt return and a 29-yard reception for touchdowns. Larry Cheng had two interceptions and a 5-yard touchdown catch as LJCD imrpoved to 6-0 and Julian dropped to 2-3. The game was called with 2:05 remaining.

Nonleague

Christian 6, Hoover 4--Sophomore quarterback Andy Herbert scored a one-yard touchdown in the second quarter as the Patriots (5-1-1) converted a Hoover fumble into the only score they would need. The Cardinals (1-6) scored on two third-quarter safeties, with outside linebacker Jeff Campbell making twice tackling Christian ball carriers in the end zone.
