Despite wildfires that ravaged the Malibu area this week, officials at Pepperdine said Thursday that the women’s volleyball match against Loyola Marymount will be played at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Wave Coach Nina Matthies said the West Coast Conference match has been the last thing on her mind.

“We haven’t practiced all week,” said Matthies, a resident of Malibu. “The fire was right behind my house, but we were spared. . . . I have more important things to worry about right now.”
