GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL

Santa Barbara d. Royal, 15-10, 5-15, 15-10, 15-11--Royal (11-6) was overpowered by Santa Barbara (18-4) in the Southern Section Division I wild-card match despite getting 19 kills and 25 digs from Teri Enright. Jenny Treglown added 16 kills and Heidi Ferguson’s 30 assists left her eight short of the single-season Royal record with 732.

Montclair Prep d. Campbell Hall, 15-7, 1-15, 15-7, 6-15, 15-10--Reagan Greene (20) and Patty Shaw combined for 30 kills as Montclair Prep (10-5) advanced past the Division V wild-card round. Vanessa Richlin had 22 assists. Elena Dubinsky had 10 kills and eight aces to lead host Campbell Hall, which finished 8-7.

Buckley d. Pilgrim, 15-13, 10-15, 15-3, 13-15, 15-12--Chris and Erika Brenner each had six kills, while Missy Palley had 16 assists to help Buckley (13-5) advance in the Division VI wild-card round.

Van Nuys d. Washington, forfeit--The Generals, seeded No. 16, didn’t show for their City Section 3-A first-round playoff match at Van Nuys as the top-seeded Wolves (13-0) waited more than 1 1/2 hours past match time.

It was later discovered that the Generals never ordered a bus to go to Van Nuys.

If the forfeit stands, Van Nuys will face Birmingham in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Birmingham d. Narbonne, 15-7, 15-10, 2-15, 15-12--Maricela Valdez had 14 kills and five blocks, and Valery Vargas had 41 assists to lead the Braves (9-5) in a City 3-A Division first-round match at Birmingham.

Sylmar d. Los Angeles, 15-4, 15-10, 15-11--Mayra Ariza had 21 kills and Angie Chavez had 25 assists to lead the Spartans (10-4) past Los Angeles (4-7) in a 3-A match at Sylmar.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

Moorpark d. West Los Angeles, 15-8, 15-11, 15-8--The Raiders (9-7) got 10 kills from Cindy McKinnon and seven from Lisa Church in a Western State Conference match.
