OUTLOOK

Prange says the team’s strength is outside shooting. It had better be. The Saxons certainly aren’t going to muscle anyone. The team’s tallest player is 6-2. Davis, Harris and Talley have been on the varsity since they were sophomores. Davis is the best of the three. He averaged 17.6 points and made 43% of his three-point shots, good enough to make him a second-team all-league pick last season. He also has great leaping ability and is the quickest player on the team. Davis, Harris and Talley are all good outside shooters, as is Forbin. Look for the Saxons to rely on an up-tempo style. Still, with the lack of size, the Saxons aren’t going to get many offensive rebounds. Teams will also pound the ball inside on offense, so Loara must be active on defense. The Saxons may have to rely on playing zones. A lot of things have to go right every night for Loara to be successful. The Saxons have had only one winning season since 1987 and have finished last four times in that span. Prange’s goal is simple: improve on their 3-7 league record and qualify for the playoffs.
