PREP BASKETBALL : Batiste Sparks Long Beach Wilson

Michael Batiste scored the game’s last five points and had a key block in the last minute to lead Long Beach Wilson to 65-58 upset of 12th-ranked Los Alamitos in a Division I-AA Southern Section quarterfinal game Tuesday night at Huntington Beach High.

Batiste finished with a game-high 30 points and a 10 rebounds for Wilson, 22-7. Los Alamitos finished at 22-5.

No. 1 Santa Ana Mater Dei 70, Valley View of Moreno Valley 44--Miles Simon scored 21 points to lead Mater Dei (29-0) to a Division I-A quarterfinal victory over Valley View (17-9) at UC Irvine.

No. 3 Compton Dominguez 78, Westlake 52--Jamie Gillins scored 21 points to lead Dominguez (25-2) to a Division II-A second-round victory at Westlake (17-7).

Crescenta Valley 85, No. 4 Fontana 77--Brock Jacobsen scored 33 points, including five three-pointers, to lead Crescenta Valley (17-8) to an upset over Fontana (26-2) in a Division I-AA quarterfinal game at Glendale College.

Crescenta Valley outscored Fontana, 20-7, in the second quarter to take a 34-25 lead at halftime.

No. 6 Inglewood 70, Compton 45--Paul Pierce scored 22 points to lead Inglewood (25-3) to a Division II-AA second-round victory at Compton (15-12).

No. 8 Bellflower St. John Bosco 68, La Mirada 42--St. John Bosco went on a 20-2 run to take a 38-18 halftime lead and held on for a Division II-A second-round victory over La Mirada (17-10) at Biola College.

St. John Bosco (25-2) was led by Jelani Gardner’s 19 points.

No. 10 Long Beach Poly 50, Fountain Valley 48--James Brown took an off-balance shot from the top of the key that rolled around the rim and went in at the buzzer to give Poly (23-6) a victory over Fountain Valley (23-6) in a Division I-AA quarterfinal game at at Edison High.

No. 14 Loyola 91, No. 19 Downey Warren 78--Toby Bailey scored 36 points to lead Loyola (22-5) over Warren (22-7) in a Division I-A quarterfinal game at Downey High.

No. 16 Santa Ana Valley 68, Chino Hills Ayala 64--Santa Ana Valley (26-3) watched a 21-point, third-quarter lead slip away, but held on for a victory over Ayala (22-5) in a Division I-AA quarterfinal game at Century High.

No. 17 Glendora 58, Huntington Beach Ocean View 53--Cameron Murray scored 30 points to lead Glendora (26-2) in a Division II-AA second-round victory at Ocean View (14-14).

In other games: Marcus Lemmons scored 19 points to lead Gahr to a 52-41 victory over Agoura (18-8) in a Division II-AA second-round game at Gahr (18-10). . . . Robert Lutes scored 20 points to lead Palm Desert (15-10) to a 72-58 victory over Riverside Poly (18-10) in a Division II-AA second-round game at Palm Desert.

Shane Willis scored 27 points to lead Mira Costa to a 64-44 victory over Paso Robles (19-6) in a Division II-A second-round game at Mira Costa (22-6). . . . Duane Curtis scored 23 points for Muir (19-11) in a 78-50 victory over Temple City (14-12) in a Division II-A second-round game at Temple City.
