Lenchasa Amos scored four touchdowns to lead Cerritos Valley Christian to a 49-6 Olympic League victory over Whittier Christian Friday night at Valley Christian.

Amos rushed for 146 yards and caught one pass for a 64-yard touchdown.

Crusader quarterback Kirk Saarloos completed six of seven passes for 169 yards and three touchdowns. Amos’ 64-yard touchdown reception was Saarloos’ longest pass of the game.

The loss dropped Whittier Christian to 2-6 overall, 1-2 in league.

Whittier Christian’s only touchdown came late in the fourth quarter on an eight-yard run by Brian Algorria with just over a minute to play.

Fullback Michael Cunningham had three touchdowns for Valley Christian, including a 55-yard run.

“I tried hard tonight,” Cunningham said. “It’s hard to run with four or five guys on your back, but you’ve got to keep trucking.”

Of his 55-yard run, Cunningham said, “It was the longest I’ve ran. I’ve got to give credit to my line. They broke some pretty big holes out there, so it was easy.

“They do all the hard work, not me.”

Valley Christian Coach Mike Wunderley thinks the Crusaders (7-1, 3-0) are in position to win the Olympic League. “We’re certainly on the right track,” Wunderley said. “We feel like we’re in a pretty good place. We need to keep up the momentum, though.”
