Brea-Olinda No Match for Woodbridge
Top-seeded Irvine Woodbridge earned a return trip to the state finals with a 53-45 victory over Brea-Olinda in the Southern Regional Division II final Saturday at the Pond of Anaheim.
Marissa Bradley, who scored 20 points for Brea-Olinda (29-4), pointed to the first quarter as the turning point. The Cats went the first seven minutes without a field goal and fell behind, 16-2.
Meanwhile, Woodbridge’s Melanie Pearson couldn’t be stopped. She scored 10 points in the first quarter and had 17 at halftime. She finished with a game-high 23 points and 14 rebounds.
