FIRST TEAM

Whitney Blue Newport Harbor Jr.

Finished a distant second to Kauren Tarver at the Southern Section Division II finals in 17:55, but closed the gap while finishing as state runner-up in 17:58, the fourth-fastest time of the cold, rainy day.

Alma Escobar Corona Jr.

The Times’ runner of the year won the Division I state title in 17:33, the fastest time of the day. Also secured a section title and won at the Irvine Woodbridge Invitational in her season opener.

Brooke Lademan Peninsula Sr.

Had her best race of the season in the Division I state final, finishing fourth in 18:04. She also finished 10th at the Southern Section finals (18:08).

Brittany Morreale Peninsula Jr.

Bounced back from a broken foot last summer to finish second in Division I (17:39) and third in state (17:59).

Crystal Reed Fountain Valley Jr.

Put in heavy mileage over the summer, and it paid off with an eighth-place finish at the Division I final and sixth at state (18:06).

Emily Spiker Ventura Jr.

Led the Highlanders in their run to Division I section and state titles, finishing fourth in Division I (17:47) and seventh in state (18:06).

Kauren Tarver Serrano Fr.

Little-known heading into the Southern Section preliminaries, she won the Division II title with the fastest time of the day (17:06) and secured the state title a week later.

Coach of the Year: Bill Tokar, Ventura

Guided the Highlanders to one of the greatest seasons in state history, culminating in the Division I state title. A week earlier at the section finals, Ventura produced the fastest combined team time on the Mt. San Antonio College layout.
