Santa Barbara Games Are Set
Defending champion Santa Barbara will play host, along with UC Santa Barbara, to the boys’ basketball Tournament of Champions on Friday and Saturday.
The Dons, ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section Division IV coaches’ poll, are seeded third in the 16-team tournament and play host to Redlands at 1:20 p.m. Friday.
Top-seeded Newport Harbor, ranked No. 1 in Division I, opens against Irvine at 10 a.m. Friday at Santa Barbara High.
Also Friday, second-seeded Foothill plays Chino Hills at 12:30 p.m. at UCSB, and fourth-seeded Santa Margarita plays Lake Forest El Toro at 12:30 p.m. at Santa Barbara High.

* Danny Williams, Los Angeles Fremont: Made three free throws with just over a minute remaining to tie the score and then made a 15-foot bank shot with 15 seconds left to lift the No. 6 Pathfinders to a 54-52 nonleague boys’ basketball victory over No. 22 Reseda Cleveland.
* Michael Lemus, Laguna Hills: Scored two second-half goals and assisted on the other to lift the Hawks to a 4-2 comeback victory over La Palma Kennedy in a nonleague boys’ soccer game.
* Chris Hammond, Irvine: Goal gave the Vaqueros a 1-0 nonleague win over Santa Margarita, ranked No. 4 in the Southern Section Division I preseason boys’ soccer poll.
* Jesse Thompson, Temecula Valley: Scored 23 points for the No. 13 Golden Bears in a 74-55 nonleague girls’ basketball victory over No. 16 Perris.
