Baseball: USA 18U team to play for gold medal on Sunday
A 5-4 win over Cuba on Friday helped the USA 18U national baseball team earn a spot in Sunday’s gold medal game of the COPABE 18U Pan American Championships in Mexico.
There are five Southern California high school players on the 18U team: Kyle Molnar (Aliso Niguel), Kolby Allard (San Clemente), Lucas Herbert (San Clemente), Peter Lambert (San Dimas) and Blake Rutherford (Chaminade).
The USA team will likely play the winner of Saturday’s game between Canada and Cuba.
Then it’s back home for the group that has been missing school and will have lots of homework to do.
