Football: It’s a linemen feeding frenzy [Video]
St. John Bosco’s Elijah Zabludoff triumphs
If there were a play-by-play announcer for Saturday’s hot dog eating competition among linemen at the Huntington Beach passing tournament, the first three words uttered would have been, “Oh my God.”
A dozen linemen were supposed to devour 13 hot dogs within 10 minutes. It wasn’t even close. Elijah Zabludoff, a senior center at Bellflower St. John Bosco who was being billed as the next “Joey Chesnut,” finished off 13 in less than eight minutes.
It was a day of St. John Bosco domination. The Braves won the passing tournament, defeating Santa Margarita in the championship game. They also won the linemen competition. In the tug-a-war, with 365-pound Damien Mama as the anchor, St. John Bosco overpowered Santa Margarita.
The summer is ending with the Braves clearly the No. 1 team in Southern California going into the 2013 season. Once the pads come out, there’s no reason that’s going to change. St. John Bosco lost one game all last season _ to Long Beach Poly in the Pac-5 semifinals.
The Braves are better and very hungry, to say the least.
