Football players who have missed about a month of the season after transferring without moving will become eligible on Oct. 5, and one team that should benefit is Los Angeles.

The Romans had 19 players on the field on Saturday at the Coliseum when they improved to 4-0 with a 34-30 win over Hamilton.

Four players sitting out will become eligible, and Coach Eric Scott is looking forward to playing sophomore Solomon Hassen, a transfer from Venice who can play multiple positions.

The Romans are two weeks away from opening play in the Coliseum League against Crenshaw. Crenshaw has scheduled its homecoming for that game. Since Scott is a Crenshaw grad and has seven former Crenshaw players on his staff, that’s going to be an interesting matchup.

“Everybody is going to be there,” he said.

First Los Angeles has to get past 4-0 Cleveland on Friday.

Los Angeles has one of the City Section’s best players in defensive tackle Martin Andrus, a junior who has scholarship offers from UCLA, USC and Stanford.
