Football: Sylmar will be tough to beat in City Section Division II

Share

All Coach John Brazil of Sylmar has wanted from his team is weekly improvement so that by the time the City Section Division II playoffs began, the Spartans would be a team to watch.

And Sylmar has done just that. It’s not the same team that opened the season on Aug. 29 and lost to Crespi, 42-0.

The Spartans are 8-2 and open the Division II playoffs against Bell on Friday.

Behind quarterback Clarence Williams and running back Marcus Gandy, the offense has picked up steam. And the defense showed last week against Canoga Park that it can come through in the clutch.

A semifinal showdown against Eagle Rock is looming for the Spartans.
