Football: Top quarterbacks are plentiful in Southern Section
There is no consensus No. 1 quarterback in the Southern Section, so that means someone will emerge based on performance. What a great concept.
There are lots of candidates.
From the class of 2015, juniors Josh Rosen of Bellflower St. John Bosco and Ricky Town of Ventura St. Bonaventure have become national prospects. Town committed to Alabama earlier this week.
From the class of 2014, Brad Kaaya of West Hills Chaminade and Jalen Greene of Gardena Serra have already committed to Miami and Boise State, respectively. Cade Apsay of Canyon Country Canyon is headed to Colorado. Brandon Dawkins of Oaks Christian has chosen Arizona.
Ian Fieber of Mission Viejo is a top passer deep. Junior Brady White of Hart could pass for 3,000 yards.
Robert Webber of Corona Centennial is coming off a season in which he passed for 3,968 yards. Chase Forrest of Mater Dei is a threat running and passing. MC Poe of L.A. Cathedral is a junior who was impressive in summer passing competitions. Sam Darnold of San Clemente is a 6-5 junior and top athlete. Junior Kevin Dillman of La Mirada has several scholarship offers even though he hasn’t played much.
KC Costello is a sophomore taking over at Santa Margarita with lots of potential. Tyler Hilinski of Upland is a junior waiting to be turned loose. Another junior with promise is Alex Camacho of Ribet. Junior Nick Robinson of JSerra came on strong at the end of last season.
